MANUKAU BRIDGES.

QUESTION OF SAFETY. - INSPECTION TO BE MADE. The question, of the safety of the bridges in. the Manukau County was considered at Tuesday’s meeting of the Council. Cr A. Eu Hattaway referred to the repairs necessary to the Maungaroa bridge,, on the road between Howick and Whit ford. Cr Hattaway drew attention to the great height of the structure at the foot of two gradients, and the seriousness of any possible accident. Reference was also trade to the recent serious accident rear Henderson, due to the collapse of a bridge. It was pointed out that the bridges in the Manukau County were all safe, but after cisj-assion it was decided that the engineer and Riding member should inspect the bridges in each Riding, and decide whether any were in such a state as to need notices limiting the load to be taken across them.
