POSTMASTER’S RESIDENCE.
MANUREWA’S UNSUCCESSFUL REQUEST. For some time past the Mpnurewa Town Board has endeavoured to urge upon the Post and Telegraph Department the advisability of erecting a postmaster's residence at Manurewa. At Monday night’s meeting of the Board the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, wrote concerning the further representations made to have '' a postmaster’s room made in the new Manurewa post office, statihg that he took an early opportunity of conferring in the matter with the Postmaster-General, who advised that in view of the fact that a contract had been let for a sum of £2160, ,and having regard to the urgent necessity of restricting buildings to works that were absolutely essential, lie regretted that it was not possible to accede to the requests made by the Board for a postmaster’s room and quarters. —Received.
