BUSINESS MEETING. t" During the two weeks that had elapsed since the previous meeting there had been very little rain, and consequently the foreman's reporti showed that considerable px-ogress had been made in forming, cleaning, and gravelling footpaths. The footpath cn the South Road, by the school, the Domain and the Bowling Green, as far as Mr Dilworth’s pi’operty, had been formed and scoria' put on. The footpaths on both sides cf Wentworth Avenue had been cleaned, and were now in good condition ; the Wallace Road footpath had been cleaned up ready for tar and sand; work on the cui’bing in Station Road was ' well in progress, the contract having' been let to a city contractor. Grader.—lt was decided that with respect to contract work, that the grader be charged for at the rate of £1 per day from the time it was taken away from the district to the time it was returned. This was deemed necessary in view of the fact that a cohtractor had recently had the use of it x for about three weeks and out of that time he had used it only about eight days. The St. John’s Presbyterian Chui'ch, held its harvest festival thanksgiving services on Sunday, March 6th. Decorations, tastefully designed in many colours lent a freshing appearance to the inside of The church, while grain, rice, \egeMtables and fruit completed an ai’tistic ■ effect. Altogether the appearance of the building reflected great credit on the members of the Young People’s Class, in whose hands the work had been placed. harvest music was rendered by the choir at all the services. The Rev. J. A. Thomson preached both morning and evening. The services were very successful and enjoyable, and .t was gratifying to the church managers that about £ls worth of produce of all kinds was received. This was sent to the Leslie Orphanage at Remuera and to the j Boys Homes of the Rev. F. R. Jef-, ides, of Presbyterian Social Ser- J -\vice Association. Two very successful cabaret entertainments in aid of the funds for the renovation of the local Catholic Church recently took in the district. These were organised and carried out under the direction of Mr. Scoble Cornish. Both these entei tainiuents proved huge successes from every point of view. The outstanding feature of the first cabaret'was arTarousing problem ‘Triologue,” written by Mr. Cornish and acted by Mi. Mrs. Riley Taylor and Miss * Loufchnan.
