AUCKLAND WATERWAYS COMMISSION.
PROPOSED CANAL. At Tuesday’s meeting of the Manukau County Council, Mr A. E» Briggs, Secretary of the Auckland Waterways’ Commission, intimated that an Auckland Canal and Inland Waterways’ Commission had been appointed in place of the Commission appointed by the Government in 1914, and subsequently dissolved when its 'investigations had proceeded only a short distance.
Councillors contended that the proposed connection of the Tamaki River and Manukau Harbour had big claims commerciallly. Eventually it was decided to arrange a conference of the Council, Otahuhu Borough Council, and Onehunga Borough Coun(il to discuss the proposed canal scheme Crs House, Waters and Hattawav were appointed the Council’s representatives.
