PAPATOETOE.
During Wednesday afternoon and evening* Miss Doris Pikett was entertair.ed at the Orphan Home as a guest where a week before she had been one of the staff watching the children and working at the nome. She is the niece of the matron, M*ss Ada Hooker, and her loss will be regretted by the other members as she has done much good during the two years she has been there, and her happy personality was a contributing factor towards the happiness of the orphanage. With Mr 'Walter Burton, to whom she is engaged, she spent a pleasant evening and received a presentation of an afternoon tea set from her co-workers as a token of appreciation of her work. On the (29th of tslis month her marriage will be celebrated in the chapel of the home, and she will afterwards take up residence in the district. It is hoped that her connec-. tion with the orphanage will not be altogether severed by conjugal ties, •is her services in getting up concerts are considered almost indispensable. She is herself an able musician.
