Mrs. S. Miller, sen., accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Twidle, of Whangarei, has left on a brief visit to Wellington, where she will be the quest of her grand-daughter, Mrs. Hugh Pollock. Before returning Mrs. Miller intends visiting the Taranaki distrct.

Before the ordinary business of the Franklin County Council commenced yesterday, the chairman moved a vote of condolence with Cr. T. W. Woods in the loss of his son, Mr. G. Woods, who succumbed as a result of an attack of gas received at the war. The motion was carried in silence, councillors standing. The clerk was instructed to convey a letter of sympathy to Cr. Woods. At the meeting of the Franklin County Council yesterday, the chairman moved a vote of condolence with Mrs. Jones in the death of her husband, Mr. D. W. Jones, ex-chairman of the Papakura Town Board. The motion was carried in silence, members standing.
