PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.
MONDAY’S MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the Papa- ' kura Town Board was held on Monday evening last, when there were present: Messrs S. Evans (chairman), J. Rea, T. D. Campbell, E. p. McLennan and the clerk (Mr A. L. Cooper). An apology for absence was received from Mr Jas. Beams. The medical health officer drew the Board’s attention to the fact that a residence in Settlement Road did not have a privy, and as onq was necessary under the Health Act, he urged the matter be attended to. —It was pointed out that the residence in question was outside the Board’s area. It was decided to forward the letter to the Franklin County Council and acquaint the Health Department of the action. Dressing Shed Necessary. The necessity of providing adequate dressing facilities at the; new park at Chalky Point for the use of school children being taught swimming was urged by Mr. J. E. Elliott He pointed out that present day education demanded the compulsory teaching of swimming and as much-needed accommodation was wanted, he suggested that the shed on the railway reserve be removed to the swimming locality. —The matter was deferred pending a decision in connection with the drainage arrangements from the casein factory to the tide. ( Casein Factory Drainage. & It was reported that the medical officer, Dr. T. Hughes, would visit Papakura for the purpose of inspecting the proposed locality beyond Chalky Point, for depositing the effluent from the casein factory. He will be accompanied on his tour of inspection by members of the Board and Mr. -J. G. Ward, Pukekohe, factory manager.
