SOLDIERS’ MEMORIAL. The committee appointed to raise funds and carry out the project of electing a memorial to the fallen soldiers is actively at work canvassing the district in order to raise £6OO required for the purpose. Concerts and other functions to augment the funds will be arranged later if public subscription does not bring the amount necessary. town board works. The local Town Board is having a t reat many improvements effected - hist now, several teams being at work carting metal for crushing, grading f nd metalling roads and forming footpaths. Marne Road and Wellington Street are both nearing completion 1 Wairoa Road is being raised in low-lying portions. House budding in various localities p s proceeding as fast as timber is available and four new cottages are nearly ready for occupation. At a meeting of the Anglican F'owe- Show Committee, Mr. E.
