ONE POWER BOARD.
PRINCIPLE AFFIRMED. The Manurewa Town Board at its last meeting affirmed the principle of the establishment of one power board for the Auckland Isthmus power district, also that the board comprise six representatives from the Auckland City Council and six from the adjacent local bodies. Mr. M. D. King urged that the Board defer decision in the matter pending further information He contended that by, adopting the principle it would be tying the Board to a scheme which it knew little or nothing about. They had already applied for 300 horse power from Horahora. Mr Lupton said reports in connection with the Horahora scheme differed. Mr. King: If two doctors differ in the medicine don’t take it. Mr. Lupton: And die in the meantime. He contended that the Auckland scheme would eventually be an auxiliary in case the Horahora plant ever broke down. Mr Lupton moved that the proposal to establish one power board be adopted. Mr. Cox seconded. Mr. King moved as an amendment that the matter be deferred. Mr. Smith seconded. The motioit was carried, Messrs Lupton, Cox and Gallaher voting for it and Messrs King and Smith j against. !
