GRASS SEED AND MANURE.

SOLD BY J. JONES, AUCKLAND. A RECORD. A scene of great activity was witnessed on Friday morning last at the auction rooms of Mr. J. Jones, auctioneer, on the corner, City Market, Auckland, when the previously advertitsed auction sale of manure and quality grass seeds wyas held. By ten o'clock, the advertised time of starting, the buyers had assembled in such large numbers that the commodious premises were fully taxed to hold them all. e The bidding was brisk and animated, the auction not finishing until late in the afternoon. That those present were buyers in the real sense of the word was proved by the fact that a total of 1500 bags of superphosphates with about 150 tons ether manures and over 3000 sacks of grass seed were submitted and eagerly bought at exceptionally good prices. The grass seed sold represented all varieties used on the farm. The buyers a! the close, many of whom had truvoPed from divlani parts of the province to reach the sale, expressed great satisfaction at the quality of the manures and seed offered, if. being fully up to and in fact greatly ovre-je in. previously advertised guarantee. The sale easily constitutes a record for the Dominion and results on such a scale as the above quoted figures were never for a moment contemplated by the auctioneer. The whole of this enormous qeuantity of seeds and manures were qquitted in a surprisingly prompt manner, and buyers expressed themselves as more than pleased with the brisk and businesslike conduct of the sale. Mr Jones tells us thate he is prepared to quote for these lines at any time and all users are advised to write him stat* ing their requirements before placing their orders elsewhere. Satisfaction is assured in every case, as he can vouch for quality of all seeds offered.*
