GLEN MURRAY.
Rain fell throughout this district for the greater part of Tuesday and Tuesday night. This will ensure an abundance of feed for the autumn and early winter. Messrs. Sanders Bros., of R.angiriri, who for the past 12 or' 15 months have done the shipping between Rangiriri and Glen Murray, have recently put on a new launch to cope with their growing volume of trade. In addition to the regular Thursday trip, they find it necessary to run a barge up two or three times per week extra to clear the landing shed from the accumulation of goods. Several natives from Opuatia, suffering from various ills, are contemplating a trip to Ratana, the Maori prophet and faith healer, with a view to being miraculously healed. When living in the country one must expect errors of all kinds when dealing with large city firms. Mr. H. Geraghty, commissioner of the Opuatia school, recently ordered from one of the leading city firms a Dover stove and sufficient piping for a chimney for the school. Upon going to the Orton landing to take delivery of same, Mr. Geraghty discovered a cream cooler had been sent for the chimney. Fortunately for the city firm, Mr. Geraghty’s sense of humour prevailed over his annoyance.
