MILITARY TRAINING. A FEW CHANGES. The appointment of Major Wallingford as O.C. No. 1 group Hus'" its reflex action in a revival of interest on the part of apathetic cadets in the 69th and 70th companies. The new group commander evinces considerable interest iiP the lads under his control, and as if with mutual good feeling the cadets made a good muster at Otahuhu on Monday exening, and the dr ill was performed with a certain eagerness by boys who had often looked for the final roll call as the sign of approaching dismissal. Perhaps the only regret was that Mr. Berrv was not able to attend to coach enthusiasts —and there weie a good many of them —in the art of boxing. Mr. Berry, a former champion in England, looks forward to the time when he will have a number of lads following him in the path that led him to fame. It is hoped that his health will have improved by next Monday.
Last Thursday evening Papatoetoe, East Tamaki and 'Mangere attended drill at Papatoetoe. The growth of the district should make it possible to form an efficient company in the new centre.
