PAPAKURA.

Papakura’s menace, the drainage from the casein factory, has been oveercome. The effluent is being carted away by suppliers, until such time as something of a permanent nature is constructed. Nothing of an offensive nature is being swilled down the creek. TENNIS. The Papakura Tennis Club is lidding a tourney, commencing on February 12 and concluding on March 1. Eight entries have been l’eceived for the champion singles, nine for the ladies’ doubles, seven for the gent.’s doubles, and 14 for the combined doubles. We understand that a tournament, under the auspices of the Manukau Association will be held early in April, probably at Clevedon. The Association comprises the Clevedon, South End (Hunua), Manurewa, North Road (Maraetai), Bx’ookby, Ardmore and Papakura Clubs. The Clevedon Club is leading in A section and Brookby is in the van as far as B section is concerned, for the shield presented for competition among clubs of -the Ma.na.kau Tennis Association. Winners of the sections play off for the shield. SCHOOL ACCOMMODATION. The accommodation at the Papakura -school is totally inadequate to . meet with the demand of school children. We understand that at least two new class rooms are lequired, and that the Education Board has under consideration ways and means of erection of a new school or providing additions to the present structure.
