PRESENTATION.

TO MR. AND MRS, F. C. DAY. A presentation of a handsome set of carvers and case was made to Mr. and Mrs. Day in the Methodisti Church on Friday evening, Mr. Day had been circuit steward and local preacher for three years, and Mrs. Day had been an active member of the Ladies' Guild. Rev. J. Olphert, who presided, referred in glowing terms of appreciation to the work of Mr. Day as the head official of the circuit,, which included seven churches and six other preaching places. Mr. Day had carried out his duties in a most efficient manner and his place would be hard to fill. Mr. Stevenson, on behalf of the congregations, spoke of the great esteem in which Mr. Day was held as a preacher, and of the regret felt at his departure. Mr. Eb. Smith, junior steward, in making the presentation, said that it had been a pleasure to work with Mr. Day, because he was so capable and withal pleasing in his manner. Keeping the books was no easy matter, as during the year, exclusive of trust and Sunday-school funds;, nearly £IOOO had been received and disbursed by Mr. Day. He wished the recipients every happiness and prosperity in their future sphere.

Mr. Day, in the course of a feeling reply, said that in these clamant times it was the duty of every man to use what talent he possesseld for the common good. To him the duty had been a delight, for both ministers and officials had worked most harmoniously with him. On behalf of Mrs. Day and himself he thanked hem most heartitly for their expressions of appreciation and the very useful present, which they would treasure in memory of their happy connection with the church. Musical items were contributed by the choir and solos by Mr. and Mrs. Richards. During the evening refreshments were dispensed by the ladies of the congregation.
