COMMITTEE REPORTS ] Following are the main clauses embodied in. the reports of the various committees which will be placed before the City. Council at its meeting on Tuesday:— Government Supply/ i The city electrical engineer reports that the cost of the units purchased from the Government for the quarter ended September 30 last under the special arrangement with the Government amounted to £6,986 ss, a saving of £4,876 5s if the original agreement had been operated. The saving for the previous quarter was £3,044 ss, making a total saving of. £7,920 10s for the six months; Playing Areas. The Reserves Committee reports the granting of the following applications for the use of playing areas for the summer seasou:—Otago Cricket Association: Four wickets at Tonga Park, two wickets at the North Ground, and one wicket at the (Gardens ground. The fees for the use of (these wickets will •be £2O .for the main wicket at Tonga Park, £6 5s for one wicket at Tonga Park, £3 2s 6d each for the wickets at Gardens ground and North Ground, and no charge for the'remaining two wickets at Tonga Park, which, have been granted for the use of Army iearns. In respect of. the wickets at the North Ground and the Gardens, the club 3on these areas have undertaken to attend to the maintenance of these wickets, the council giving the' preliminary preparation and cutting the outfield only. Otatro Cricket League: Eight wickets on the Oval at £6 5s per wicket, plus £5 for the use of two l'oong in the pavilion. Otago Boys' Cricket Association: Four wickets on the Oval. No charge is made for the use of these wickets. Otago Women's Baseball Association: Three areas at Bathgate Park at a charge of £2 2s.' The charges for the use of the cricket wickets set out above fljttl be subject to the wartime reduction of 25 per cent. Approved by ibe council. Cable Lines. '•'■*■■ The two new ropes on order for the Mornington and Maryhill lines have now arrived in New Zealand, and advice has been received that the rope on order for the Kaikorai line is expected to leave the factory at the end of the present month. It is advisable that orders be now placed for additional, ropes for both the Maryhill and Mornington lines, and arrangements in this direction have been made.
