BEER RATIONING

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 23. “ That the Government bo urged to extend the rationing system to include beer and other alcoholic liquors,” was the text of a remit passed by delegates to the Wanganui branch of the National Council of Women. The remit was tabled by the Wanganui Housewives’ Union at last month’s meeting, and the delegates during the month discussed it with their organisations and voted on it last night. In support of the remit, it was stated that the manufacture of beer alone required annually 400,000 bushels of barley. 300,000 bushels of malt, and 4,032,0001 bof sugar. The remit will bo sent to headquarters, and from there will be circulated throughout the branches of the National Council of Women.
