AMERICA FACES OIL SHORTAGE
WASHINGTON, October 22. A warning that the United States is facing an oil crisis similar to the rubber and steel crisis because of the Government’s lack of co-ordinated methods in dealing with petroleum problems was given by the Senate Public Lands Committee. “ The United States is burning np the oil content of a major oilfield every five days,” says the committee. “ Thu armed service is using unimaginable supplies of oil, and the needs next year will be doubled In addition, the United States'is becoming an oil source for tho United Nations, as the Axis has captured foreign supplies.”
