CHRISTIAN BROTHERS 1u fine but fresh weather yesterday afternoon, at Carisbrook, the Christian Brothers’ High School held its sixtyseventh annual track athletic meeting. There was a large number of entrants, and altogether 60 events were put through. The ground was in good condition, and the young athletes .were keen and enthusiastic. Conditions were not ideal for recordbreaking, nevertheless there were several cases where records were either equalled or broken W Bevis set four records. As in previous, years the school was divided for competition purposes into red. blue, green, and gold teams, each in charge of a captain, and cup events were distinguished as Senior Cup (open), intermediate Cup (under 16i years). Junior Cup (under 14 years), Midget Cup (under 12 years). The competition this year was won by the gold team (112| points), red (103 a), and blue (75) wero second and third respectively. Scanlan in second and third places respectively. The Intermediate Cup (presented by Mr W. H. Cole) was won by P. O’Connor; K. Fitzpatrick was second, and R, McCormack third. A cup presented by Mr Justice Callan for the intermediate section was won by W. Bevis T. Boyle and R. W. Muirhead wore second and third. J.’Roy, R. Fitzpatrick, and B. O’Connell were placed in that order for the Midget Cup, which was presented by Messrs G. Methven and Co Ltd. > KING'S HIGH A number or records wero broken at the King’s High School sports yesterday. In the Senior Cup, 440yds, J. 11. Heslop. lowered the record by three-fifths of a second, his time being 56 3-ssec. In the 440yds handicap, from scratch, J. H. Allen also broke the record with 56 7-10 sec. In the 1 high- jump, and the hop. step, and jump, P. C. Walker cleared sft siu in the former ana 42ft in the latter, improving on the previous best by 2ft Biin. The Intermediate Cup was won by A. A. Howley, who scored four firsts, and the Junior Cup went to C. Simpson. The interhouse relay record tor 880yds was bettered by 3-ssec in the time of Imin 45sec.
