FIRE FIGHTING
BRITISH EXPERT’S REPORT RECEIVED
(Special.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 22. It was announced by the Prime Minister ni the House yesterday that a comprehensive report from Mr A, D. Wilson, the fire-fighting expert from Britain, was now in the hands of the Government, but that it was impossible to state at this juncture when a final decision could be given on the report. The Prime Minister was replying to an urgent question by Mr Lee, on behalf of the member for Napier (Mr Barnard). Mr Lee said that local E.P.S. executives were anxious for information and direction.
Tlio Prime Minister said that ihe report dealt extensively with matters of policy, control, personnel, training, and equipment, in respect to the fire-fighting services for war emergency. The final decision on the report depended largely on what questions arose in the discussions that must lake place between the interested bodies. The importance of the matter in connection with' (he civil defence of the Dominion was fully appreciated, and it would have attention accordingly having regard lo other problems relating to the war effort.
