GRAND • ‘ Cadet Girl,’ which commenced at the Grand to-day, is a riotous musical comedy, with Carole Landis and George Montgomery in the leading roles. Montgomery, a West Point cadet on furlough on Broadway, meets Miss Landis, the blonde vocalist ot his brother's (John Shepherd) orchestra. Many now Robin and Rainger “ hit tunes are introduced into the merry-go-round ot music, fun, and romance that follows. But there are many stumbling blocks on the romantic road that the pair choose to follow. Shepherd objects to their marriage, and Miss Landis tells Montgomery to wait. They finally break with Shepherd and organise their own band, but Montgomery’s first regard is for the array. Realising this, Miss Landis sets the stage for an unforgettable and dramatic climax, which aids in solving the problem to the satisfaction of all. The other feature of the new progrartime is the stirring drama, ‘ Who is Hope Schuyler? ’ The stars are Joseph Allen, jun., Mary Howard, and Ricardo Cortez. St. James (Friday).—Two excellent comedies, ‘This Time For Keeps,’ with Ann Rutherford and Guy Kibbee, and the Marx Brothers in ‘ Go West.’ Strand (Friday).—A fast-moving Western, ‘ Red River Valley, 1 with Roy Rogers, and ‘ Father Steps Oul,’ a gay comedy, with Frank Albertson. . j Regent (Friday).—Jeanette Macdonald in 1 Smilin’ Through.’
