NOW AT SEA
NEW BRITISH BATTLESHIPS

(Rec. 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, Oct. 20. The Admiralty, announces that two new British 'battleships, the Anson and the Howe, are now at sea. Both are of the George Y. class, and have a displacement of 35,000 'tons. Each carries four aircraft, and has a design ensuring improved defence against air attack. The armament includes 10 14in guns of a greater range than the 15in guns mounted on earlier ships.
KISKA BOMBED AGAIN
AMERICANS ACTIVE IN ALEUTIANS
(Rec. 8 a.m.) WASHINGTON, October 19,
A Navy communique says that on October 17 Army Liberator bombers attacked a oarap in the Kiska area, and bombed ships beached in the harbour. Fifteen tons, of bombs were dropped, but overcast conditions prevented observation of the results. Anti-aircraft opposition was light, and no enemy aircraft were seen.
RUSSIAN SUBMARINE'S SUCCESS
(Rec. 12.27 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 20. A Stockholm message says a Russian submarine torpedoed the German ferry boat Deutschland, carrying 1,000 Germap soldiers returning from leave. Five were 'killed, 29 injured, and an unknown number drowned. The ferry, which was travelling between Sassnitz and Trelleborg, was badly damaged, but managed to reach Trelleborg,
