SHAKESPEARE CLUB
The annual meeting of the above club was held on Saturday, when Professor T. D. Adams occupied the chair. The annual report and balance sheet showed that the season had been a successful one, and that members and patrons continue to support the club in its activities. The election of officers resulted as follows Patron, the Governor-General (Sir Cyril Newall) ; vicepatron, Mr Justice Kennedy; president, Professor T. D. Adams; vice-presidents— Messrs H. Chapman, H. W. Hunter, and J. Hayward; committee —Mesdames L. Withers, J. Thomson, Miss V. Jefferson, Mr A. P. Lanyon; hon. treasurer, Mr C. J. L. White; hon. secretary, Miss H. A.’ H. Smith; hon. auditor, Mr A. Thomas; Supper Committee, Misses S. Foote and M. Randle. The following plays were selected for reading during the coming season ‘ Coriolanus,’ ‘ The Taming of the Shrew,’ ‘ Richard the Third.’
