MILLIONS STARVING
CHINESE PROVINCE OF HONAN WORST FAMINE OF MODERN TIMES (Rec. 10.5 a.m.)' NEW YORK, Oct. 19. The Chungking Associated Press correspondent says that, stricken by one of the worst famines of modern times, thousands of Chinese are dying in the Honan province, where 6,000,000 are officially reported on the verge of starvation. - Official reports to Chungking said 18,000,000 famine refugees clogged the roads from Honan toward Shensi and Hupeh. The situation is intensified by the necessity of supporting the large military force holding the present front - against the Japanese.
