HEADLIGHT RESTRICTIONS
Some time ago urgent representations wore made by the Government to. the Dunedin City' Council to rigidly enforce the Kmergeucy Lighting Regulations as affecting the use of motor vehicles during the"hours of darkness. .The Traffic Department intensified its policy of educating drivers in their responsibilities by issuing warnings, except in serious cases. •' “ This policy has not had the desired effect, and many drivers still persist in driving with full-headlights or with the left hand headlight set too high,” said a member of the Transport Department to-day. “On wet nights, when visibility' is bad. fully half the drivers on the streets use both headlights. The Emergency Regu'ations now operate at all times when lights are required on motor vehicles, and the Traffic Department does not intend to accent any more excuses. Offenders must now make them to the court.”
