METROPOLITAN LICENSING AUTHORITY
A meeting of the Metropolitan Transport Licensing Authority was held on Thursday afternoon. Mr E.'J, Smith presided, and there wore present Messrs D. C. Jolly and R. Walls. An application from Kia Ora Taxis for transfer of an owner-driver license from Daniel Lyons was granted.— I The Chairman said (hat Lyons had given 20 years’ very good taxi service, and he congratulated him on the fine record he had set up. “ 1 am quite sorry to see him going out of business,” the Chairman added. An application from Dunedin Taxis Ltd. for transfer of an owner-driver license from George Wilson was adjourned. Kia Ora Taxis applied for an amendment of their license, enabling them to increase their authorities by one. At the same time Bootten and Gray, Port Chalmers, applied for an amendment, reducing their authorities by one.—Mr W. J. Meade, who appeared for applicants, explained that this was really a transfer of licenses, Kia Ora Taxis to" operate Bootten and Gray’s license as a war measure—The application was granted, subject to • the license being restored to Bootten and Gray should an application to this effect be made after the war.
