WAIKATO MINES
CONTROL BOARD PERSONNEL (P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 17. The Hon. P. C. Webb announced today the following personnel of the Waikato Coal Mines Control Board:—The Minister of Mines (chairman), Mr Henry Morpeth (chairman of the Waikato Colleries Association), Mr Hendry Luke (managing director of Wilton Colleries), Mr William Parsonage (superintendent- of the G-len Afton Colleries), Mr J. Watson (superintendent of the Taupiri Coal Mines). Mr J. Devlictrary (United Mine Workers of New Zealand), Mr T. Hall (secretary of the Northern Mineis’ Union), Mr C. J. Strongman (superintendent of the State Coal Mines), in the absence of the Minister, Mr C. H. Benney (Undersecretary of Mines) will act as chairman. . Mr Webb said he accepted without hesitation the nominations submitted by the mine owners, and had selected the two men who had received the greatst support at the individual collieries from those nominated by the miners. The Minister also expressed his belief that the board would work together as‘ a team to produce the maximum quantity of coal -while giving the greatest measure of safety to the workmen.
