Ceylon is now the largest and main source of rubber for the Allies. A new system of tapping is being introduced', to increase the yield by 50 per cent. ,\ew rubber trees are being planted, and will be ready for tapping when the present trees are exhausted by the intensive methods. The graphite industry is being expanded. This is the most important mineral produced by Ceylon, and is used for war . purposes in the manufacture of munitions. Power alcohol from oocoanuts is being used in motor oars in Ceylon.
