The Leader of the Opposition , (Mr S. G. Holland) returned to Wellington by air this morning. Advice has been received that Lieutenant L. C. Stephens, youngest son of Mrs J. C. Stephens, is being invalided home after a lengthy period in hospital in the Middle East. Word has been received! that Flightlieutenant G. D. Sise, son of Mr R. G. Sise, of Dunedin, has been promoted to the rank of squadron leader. Squadronleader Sise has been oh active service since June, 1939, and has been engaged in many actions. Mr A. C. Cameron left for Wellington by the express last night. The Hons. M. Connelly and A. Campbell, M.L.C.’s, and Messrs J. W. Munro, P. Neilson, and J. A. Roy, M.P.’s, left by the express last night to attend the resumption of the parliamentary session to-morrow. The Leader of the Opposition, Mr S. G. Holland, met members of the Otago and Southland Divisional Committee of the National Party at a luncheon yesterday afternoon, and later was the guest of Mr and Mrs P. Barling at their home at Macandrew Bay, being accompanied by the president of the Dunedin Manufacturers’ Association, Mr J. C. H. Somerville. Last night Mr Holland addressed members of the Manufacturers’ Association at their annual meeting. He loft for Wellington by air this morning. The Dunedin City Council last night appointed Cr J, McCrae as its representative to act on a local committee which is being set up under the Rehabilitation Act.
