CRICKET
PORT CHALMERS CLUB * The annual meeting of the Fort Chalmers Cricket Club was well attended, Mr T. Armstrong (president) being in the chair. Motions of sympathy were passed with the relatives of Mr T. B. Wilson, a life member and staunch supporter who recently passed away, and Privates H. Nelson and A. Chettleburgh, who had lost their lives on active service. The president complimented the teams on their performances last season, especially the B team, which won in its grade competition. D. Braithwaite topped the batting and bowling averages for the A team. Very creditable performances were put up by O. Paris and M. Love in the B team. Both bowled 160 overs, the former taking 85 wickets for an average of 5, and the latter 75 wickets for an average of 6. Opening day was fixed for October 3. Office-bearers were elected as follows:— Patron, Hon. A. Campbell, M.L.C.; president, Mr T. Armstrong; vice-presidents— Messrs A. L. S. Cassie, W. Campbell, E. Tiffany, and W. Love; auditor, Mr J. H. Crawford; trustees, Messrs Cassie and Love; club captain, Mr L. Hawkins; deputy-cap-tain, Mr J. Smith; sole selector, Mr C. Campbell; delegates to 0.C.A., Messrs W. Braithwaite and T. Armstrong; committee — Messrs B. Braithwaite, J. Broomfield, O. Paris, I. Forgie, and E. Underwood.
