EIGHTY-SIX CHARGES

CAREER OF CRIME STOPPED (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. 4. William George Thomas pleaded guilty in the Police Court this morning to four charges of the theft of cheque forms and 82 charges of false pretences and issuing valueless cheques by which he obtained goods and money of a total value, of £453 Is 7d. The offences occurred! in. all parts of the Dominion between April, 1939. and August, 1,042, He was committed to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence. The magistrate (Mr Woodward,) complimented Detectives Jarrold and Hay on effecting the arrest of the accused at New Plymouth.
