YOUTHS’ ESCAPADE
THEFT OF TOMMY GUN FROM HOME GUARD (P.A.) WELLINGTON, September 3. Three Wellington youths, two aged 16 and the third aged 17, appeared before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Children’s Court at Wellington this afternoon on remand from Masterton. The charges concerned the conversion of a car and the theft from Home Guard headquarters of military weapons. They were arrested in the Wairarapa, when the car was recognised by the police as one reported missing. Two tommy guns, a' .303 rifle, and a .22 pea rifle were found in the car. The youths were remanded for one week, the magistrate ordering that they should be kept apart from the others in detention.
