UNITED NATIONS EAGER AMD RESOLUTE (British Official Wireless.) (Ree. noon.) (RUGBY, September 3. Mr Attlee said to-day: The opening of the fourth year of war finds the United Nations resolute, eager, and better prepared to meet the enemy on sea or land or in the air. Day by day, week by week they add to their strength in munitions and armed forces, but their efforts have not yet reached the peak, whereas the enemy long ago passed his, and has suffered great losses. We must expect further difficulties, but, however long the way, the issue is sure. At 11 a.m. to-day, the hour at which Britain went to war three years ago, services forming part of the national day of prayer were held throughout the country. A 15-minute service, broadcast at the same time, was Hstended to in factories, offices, and schools as well as in churches. The day will be honoured with no more formality than is necessary, but no less earnestly for that. DEDICATION . (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. noon.) RUGBY, Sept. 3. “ This dedication of our people to-day must be a cumulative action, in which each docs something of which he pr she is capable, great or small, which in the result represents the spirit of resolve and recognition of the significance of God that our resolve may be effective and enable us to move mountains,” the Archbishop of Canterury said in Westminster Abbey, which building was filled for celebration of the Day of Prayer. Large numbers were unable to get in, and remained outside during the service. The congregation included Mr Churchill, members of the_ War Cabinet, andl many in the service uniforms or many nationalities.
