CHINESE SUCCESSES

Chinese forces. storming across Chekiang, intercepted and routed Japanese reinforcements rushed forward in a frantic effort to halt Cliiang Kaishek’s forces from approaching Kinhwa. Reports from the Associated Press Chungking correspondent state that Chi nose ambushed the Japanese moving np to the railway between Kinhwa and Lanchi, while another Chinese column advanced from Tangki to Kinhwa. The Chinese ' military spokesman said Kinhwa was menaced by a “ nutcracker ” offensive along two railways. The Japanese forces bad been cleared entirely from the southern areas of Chekiang. liishni and Chnhsion airfields, now both in Chinese hands, arc within bombing range of Japanese cities.
