The Dunedin Competitions Society’s festival was advanced a stage further this morning, classes being taken in His Majesty’s Theatre, Victoria Hall, and the Concert Chamber. The results were:— INSTRUMENTAL. Judge: Dr T. Vernon Griffiths. Sight Reading, under 14.—Beverley Cater, 83 points, 1; Joyce McGregor, 81. 2« June Angelo, 80, 3. Highly commended; Lorraine I’ister. Commended: Elizabeth Haig. Seven competitors. Sight Reading, 14-18.—Reginald Windsor, 87 points, 1; Misses Patricia McEvoy and Joy Stuart, 82, equal, 2. Highly commended: Miss Lorua McDonald (Oamaru). Seven competitors. DANCING. Judge: Miss Kathleen Mathews. Demi-character or Character Dance, under 10.—Patsy Ward, 79 points, 1; Betty Applegate, 78, 2; Margaret Peak (Beaumont), 75, 3. Highly commended: Beverley Hastie, Ivy Malhewson, J. Kilpatrick. Ten competitors. Ballet Dance, operatic, 10-13.—Recalls, to appear to-night, were Maureen Keenan, Olga Rowland, and Colleen Fenlin. Dance Duo, under 10.—Recalls, to appear to-morrow night, were Billy Chambers and Ona'Jolly and Beverley Ha-tie and Ailecn King. ELOCUTION. Judge: Mr Errol Muir. Character Recital, under 12, own selection. —The recalls, to bo heard to-morrow night, were Lorna Patrick, Neville Madden, and Janice McLeod (Christchurch). Character Sketch, open, own selection. — The recalls, to be heard to-night, were Misses Billie Loan and Margaret Ufton. To-night and To-morrow. —Another 'attractive programme will he presented at His Majesty’s Theatre this evening. It will include Miss Laura Bain’s spectacular ballets, a 15-minut.e play by Mrs Lance Griffiths’s party, ‘ Aunty’s Millions,’ piano duos, elocution scholarship, ladies’ vocal scholarship, ballot and character dances, and vhcal scholarship for girls. Some interesting sessions will be hold at the day sessions to-morrow. In His Majesty’s Theatre child’s action songs and songs and dances will be held in the morning, and the afternoon session will include children’s vocal scholarship. Gilbert and frullivan eonlo-l. and tap dancing. At the Concert Chamber sacred solos will be held in the morning and vocal solos and trios in (he afternoon. At Ihe Victoria Hall reading at sight, elocution scholarship. prepared speech, and recitations will be heard.
