RESISTANCE STIFFENS
RUSSIAN BOMBERS OVER BERLIN
(Rec. 1 p.mi) LONDON, Aug. 28. A Moscow communique says that although the threat to Stalingrad remain* grave, Russian resistance has stiffened, especially in the dangerous north-western sector, and the (Russians have counter-attacked in some sectors. South-west of the city the Russian lines have’ held. ■
Russian bombers flew from Leningrad to Berlin on Wednesday night to drop bombs on the German capital. Large fires were reported. All the planes returned safely.
