SOLOMONS BATTLE. The N.Z.P.A.’s special Austra-* Han correspondent cables: Counterinvasion by the Japanese of the American-held Salomon Islands will ho thwarted. A Greymouth Association message states ■ that the Liverpool miners returned home to-day owing to the refusal of the truckers to work under the clipping shed •where the trucks are diverted to the main rope road. The truckers contended that the shed, which had been damaged by wind, was in a dangerous state. The management’s promise of early repair was considered inadequate. The watersiders are idle owing to dangerous conditions.
