OBITUARY
MRS R. KENNEDY There died recently at Dunedin on® of the early pioneers of Ryal Bush and the Waimea Plains in the person of Mrs R. Kennedy, who was horn in Countv Antrim, Ireland, 86 years ago. She sailed for New Zealand in the ship Auckland on its maiden voyage, and after a long and stormy trip arrived at Port Chalmers in 1874/ For some time she resided at Clarksville, where she met and married the late Mr Robert Kennedy. The young couple secured a block of land at Ryal Bush, which required a journey of six days in *v farm dray to reach. After a. few years of strenuous work there left and occupied a section near Riversdale, where Mrs Kennedy helped to build a home and bring up a family of eight sons and three daughters. After some 30 odd years in Riversdale they retired to Roslyn, where Mrs Kennedy resided until her death. She is survived by seven sons and three daughters. Thera are 29 grandchildren and 36 greatgrandchildren.
