ARMY UNIFORM ISSUE
ADDITIONAL BATTLEDRESS W.A.A.G. TO SHARE Since they were drafted into camp men in the local area have had only the one issue of battledress which_ has had to serve them for all occasions. This state of affairs is to be changed immediately with the issue of a second set of battledress to all ranks other than officers. With this issue men will have a change which should be welcomed, and which will enable them to present a smarter appearance on the streets than has been the case when the set used on parade has had to be worn away from camp. Most of the men will now have two sets of battledress and a set of denims. The 9th Taieri Independent Mounted Rifle Squadron, being a horse unit, will not share in this distribution, but arrangements have been made for the issue of oilskins. These will be issued on the scale of 33 jackets and 35 trousers to one squadron. They will not bo issued individually, but will be held as unit property, and will be issued to personnel as and when required. Members of the W.A.A.G. are also to participate in the now uniform issue, and at an early date they will be equipped with battledress the same as the men. Tbe first step in this direction is already taking place, the soft W.A.A.C. cap being called in and tbe Arrav field service cap being issued in its place. Some of the W.A.A.C. members began wearing the field service cap to-day.
