DYER TWELVE MILLION WORKERS NEW DELHI, August 25. Mr George Myrell, head of the United States Mission to India, broadcasting, said the motor car industry in America would produce, 45,000 tanks this year, while one plane was being turned out every eight and a-half minutes. President Roosevelt’s estimate of 60,000 planes a year would be exceeded. Ford’s factory in Michigan was turning out one four-engined bomber every hour. Twelve and a-half million workers, ■he added, were employed in war production in America, and in a year 17,000,000 'workers, would be producing for victory. The shipbuilding industry was turning out three ships a day. and the output would soon be four ships. WOMEN'S SHARE INCREASING THE OUTPUT WASHINGTON, August 24. “ The battle of production may he won or lost by women,” says tho ‘ World Telegram.’ At least one aircraft manufacturer has notified Washington that it depends on tho speed with which he can hire and train women whether the production schedules will bo fulfilled. Six Southern Californian companies at present employ 37,500 women. Moreover, the companies credit the women with improving plant efficiency and increasing tho output. At Yulte women have raised the production rate all over the plant. Fuselage work in particular has moved more rapidly under women’s nimbler fingers. PROBLEM OF INDIA PROPOSED DIVISION INTO DOMINIONS (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 1.35 p.m.) RUGBY, Aug. 2t>. A proposal to divide India into five dominions has been made by" Sir Feroz Khan Noon, Defence member of the Indian Government and a former High Commissioner in London. An Allahabad message states that the five dominions would be Bengal and Assam; the Central Provinces, United Provinces and Bihar; Madras; Bombay; Punjab-Baluebistan-North-wost Frontier and Sind. Sir Feroz Noon agreed that tliere should be a central authority to carry on the united effort. Defence, Customs, and Foreign Relations would be reserved for tho central authority, which would he composed of nominees of the live dominions. l\m NAVY SALE TO TURKEY SUGGESTED STOCKHOLM, August 25. The Berlin correspondent of the Tidningeii says Vichy is negotiating with Turkey for the sale of the French warships at Alexandria. The correspondent adds that Berlin informed Vichy that she would not object to such a transaction.
