YOUTH SHOT AT TIMARU
DISCOVERY AT BANK A member of the staff of the Bank of Australasia at Tiinnru, who lived at the bank, was found on the premises on Saturday evening with a bullet wound in the head (reports the ‘ Press ’). Shortly after 9 o’clock, Dr G. H. Ussher received a call to the hank, the message indicating that someone had been shot. Arriving at the hank, the doctor was unable to gain admission, but he could hear groans near the door. The person inside informed him that ho could not open the door. Dr Ussher advised the manager of the bank, Mr H. E. D. Willcox, who accompanied the doctor back to the premises and opened the door with his keys. A member of the statf was found lying on the floor in a pool of blood, liis kevs being on the, floor nearby. The youth'had a severe wound in the head, and he was immediately taken to hospital, -where an operation was performed and a bullet extracted. An examination of the youth’s bedroom at the bank revealed a fair amount of blood, and there were also indications that ho had walked into other departments before telephoning for help. A revolver was found on the youth’s bed, and on a. nearby table was a shell case. . The youth’s condition is reported as satisfactory.
