MACANDREW BAY ORPHANS’ CLUB

Saturday night last was “ Dunedin Orphans’ Night,” when a strong party from the city club visited Macandrew Bay and supplied an enjoyable .programme. Vicepresident Bro. A. Hartley presided in the unavoidable absence of tho president, Bro. R. S. Glendining, and apologised for tho absence of many .of his fellow-members through illness. The acting chairman then suitably installed Bro. P. Stabb, president of the visiting club, in the chair. Bro. Stabb thanked tho local club, for the invitation extended to his club, and hoped that tho efforts of his party would in some small measure assist those present to relax for a moment from the anxious times which they were experiencing. Vocal solos were contributed by members of the Dunedin Club—namely, Bros. R. Bryant, E. Ottrey, W. Bobbie, A. Walmsley, and H. Oates, whilst Vice-president Bro. E. Kerr was heard in cornet solos. Mr J. Nicholson was the accompanist. A recent trip through England was described by Senior Vice-president E. Goodwin. Three visitors from Wyndham were present. In concluding the evening Bro. Hartley intimated that Oamaru Savage Club would be raiding Macandrew Bay on September 12, and hoped to see all members on that occasion.
