BRAVO, CHINA!

RECAPTURE OF IMPORTANT TOWNS AMERICAN BOMBING HELPS MORALE (ißec. 11.45 a.m.) CHUNGKING, August 24. It is officially announced that the Chinese have captured Lichwan, the second most important Japanese base in Central Kiangsi. A military spokesman said the Japanese forces had been driven from 11 important towns during the last week, retreating to Manchukuo like hungry dogs, fatigued, starved, and sick, and so short of munitions that they cannot fight even a rearguard action. Guerrilla activities have deprived the Japanese of food and munition supplies, and have played an important part in the enemy’s collapse. American bombing of Japanese targets has boosted Chinese morale.
