N.Z. AIR HONOURS
D.F.M. AWARD (P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 23. Advice has been received by Air Headquarters that the Distinguished Flying Medal has been awarded to Pilot-officer (formerly Flight-sergeant) Raymond Albert Peters, of Linton, in the Manawntu district. Pilot-officer Peters was born at Wanganui in May, 1920, and was educated at the Palmerston North High School. He applied for enlistment in the R.N.Z.A.F. within a month of the outbreak of war. His father is Mr A.. Peters, of Linton. The citation states: “ Pilot-officer Peters has always displayed great energy and initiative in attacks on shipping. He has sunk a merchant ship and an E-boat at night, and has also destroyed one, and probably two, other enemy aircraft.”
