LONDON, August 21.—The Pedestrians’ Association has submitted to the Beveridge Committee on Social Insurance a scheme for compensation tor road victims, including payment where no insurance policy exists or where the driver is not traced. These payments would come from a fund like New Zealand’s, to which all insurance companies contribute. RUGBY, August 23.—The Moscow wireless announced on Friday night that Soviet aircraft bombed Warsaw, East Prussia, and Upper Silesia on ' Thursday night. The raid was directed against war industries. A large number of fires were started in Warsaw, and 19 explosions were observed. All the aircraft returned. LONDON. August 22.—The Berlin radio says Major-general von Gablenz, of the German Air Ministry, and Dr Kruemmeh. of the Science and Education Ministry, were killed when a plane piloted hy von Gablenz crashed near Muhlberg as the result of engine failure, while en route from Berlin to South Germany. RUGBY, August 22.—A Malta message savs that R.A.F. fighters yesterday destroyed five enemy aircraft over the island. NEW YORK. August 22.—Tom Heeney, the New Zealand heavyweight boxer, was sworn in as a second class seaman in the naval “ Sea Bees,” an overseas construction division.
