PROBLEM OF RAW MATERIALS
STATEMENT BY PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT
WASHINGTON, August 21
President Roosevelt, at a Press conference, said the principal problem now was getting adequate raw materials. The priorities made at the beginning of contracts bad not always worked out.
Replying to a question, he said he would never be satisfied with war production and the distributions of munitions. but he was not “ blue ” about it. Ho remarked “ that every nation on our side and the neutrals, too, would like to have all the munitions wo turn out, but it is a world war, and we do not have all the implements of war we would like.” Hero Mr (Roosevelt said he would like to have 1,000,000 men in Australia, American men plus all the Australians there, “ but we can’t get them there.”
