TAIERI RIVER TRUST
MONTHLY MEETING Mr H. W. Wilson (chairman) presided at the monthly meeting of the Taieri River Trust, held at Mosgiel yesterday. The district engineer (Mr P. Kellar) wrote advising that the department had arranged with Mr W. L. Sprott, Momona, for the use of a section as a forced landing ground.—Received. The Director-General, P. and T. Department, wrote regretting that accommodation for a private telephone line on departmental poles could not be granted. He suggested that the line to the chairman’s bouse could be made immune to flood damage by raising it on butts.—The matter was left to the chairman The district employment officer wrote advising that authority had been granted for F subsidy on a maximum basis of £4 5s per man-week for eight registered married men under Scheme 13.—The offer was accepted Mr Dow reported on his inspection of Bathgate’s drain, and his recommendations for deepening the drain and putting in a larger pipe were adopted. He also referred to the dangerous practice of putting rubbish in the drains in some localities. Accounts totalling £1,566 8s lOd were passed for payment.
