The Government was compiling statistics and applied to the small village at the hack of beyond as to who were the oldest inhabitants. The reply came: “ In answer to your query of February 20 re oldest inhabitants, we have pleasure in informing you that the oldest inhabitants of this village died three years ago,” The doctor giving a first aid lecture had just asked a listener what he would do if ho had rescued a man from drowning. “ Lay him on his chest and apply artificial respiration.” was the reply. “ But,” said the doctor, “ what if the man had broken a rib?” “Then I’d lay him on his back and use his arms to apply Sylvester’s method.” “ Yes.” said the doctor, “ hut what if his arms were broken, ton?” “ Then,” answered the man. “I’d throw the blighter back and let someone else find him.”
