CRICKET SUGGESTION HOME AND HOME GAMES [Pbr United Pkess Association.] WELLINGTON, October 8. The Wellington Cricket Association Management Committee has decided to approach the Auckland and Canterbury Associations with a view to playing home and home matches this summer because of the likelihood of the postponement of Plunket Shield games. The suggestion is made that profits be on a 50-50 basis. It is suggested, too, that, where possible, visiting players be billeted. OFFER FOR BEAU VITE 10,000 GUINEAS REFUSED SYDNEY, October 8. (Received October 8, at 1 p.m.) Commenting on the Metropolitan, the ‘Telegraph’ says: “Beau Vite’s win was the most spectacular highweight performance since Laddie Blue scored with 10.7 in 1021. Making light of his welter-weight, Beau Vite dashed away at the start as though he was in a sprint race, and won in a runaway fashion.” The ‘Herald 1 says; “New Zealandbred horses secured a notable triumph in winning the Epsom-Metropolitan double.”
Following Beau Vite’s win. his owner refused an offer of 10,000 guineas for the horse. Beau Vite is now a clear-eut favourite for the Melbourne Cup. The acceptances for the Craven Plate, £1,300, one mile and a-quarter,
to be run at Randwick to-morrow are: Bourbon, St, Constant, Mildura 9.4, Reading, Dashing Cavalier, High Caste, Beau Vite 9.0.
