PETROL RATION
PURELY MATTER OF FINANCE [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October 8. Expressing the opinion that the que*. tion of the rationing of petrol in New Zealand was solely concerned with finance, Mr C. Edmond, president of the New Zealand Motor Trade Federation, issued a statement to-day replying to the contention made in the House on Friday by Mr Mcachen, that rationing was necessitated through conditions arising from the war. Mr Edmond states that if Air Aleacheu pursued the matter of petrol for use for aeroplanes in New Zealand, he would find that it had no vital bearing on the rationing of petrol; and he adds that the Alotor Trade Federation would be the last to suggest that any action should be taken that would in any way restrict the training of our Air Force.
