BOY’S FORTY OPERATIONS HIGHEST SCOUT AWARD CONFERRED [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October S. Dominion Headquarters. Wellington, of the Boy Scout movement has received advice from Imperial Headquarters, London, that the Cornwell Scout decoration, Scouting’s highest award, has been given to Scout Stanley Cole (17), at present in Wellington Public Hospital. The award is made to him for heroic and cheerful endurance of suffering. Cole has been in hospital for the lastfive years. In that time he has undergone more than 20 major and a similar number of minor operations. Recently he had a leg amputated. His cheerfulness, fortitude, and courage are stated to have impressed all those with whom he has come in contact. A formal presentation will be made on the arrival of the decoration from England.
